Bedroom Makeover

Every once in a while I get a little interior decorating itch. Even if we don't really have the space or the money to redecorate right now, I like to put my ideas "on paper" to help me remember in case we have more space in the future. The mood board below is for our master bedroom. We purchased a King-sized mattress last year, and it took my a while to find new bedding that suited both of our styles. I finally found one that matched the blue paint in our bedroom and wasn't too "feminine" (DH prefers stripes or a solid color... and that's about it).  Somehow I don't have a photo of that actual bedding in our room, so here's the product photo:

I still like our blue/gray paisley, but as springtime approaches, I'm feeling in the mood for lighter, airier patterns and colors. This mood board was really inspired by the dresser/nightstand combo I found at World Market. The inherited set we have now is pretty dilapidated and it's covered in wood veneer --  so I'm not sure it's worth a paint job. And what we have now doesn't quite fit our space. Plus, for World Market sale prices, we could get the new dresser/nightstand set and the new headboard for under $1,500! We'll see if DH goes for that one... :)

The mood board incorporates our existing wall color (Van Deusen blue) and I love the added pops of red and green. It lightens up the dark wood furniture and doesn't feel limited to any particular season. I've also been dreaming of a nail-trim head board for a while. And this one isn't a bad price.  If only I could get geared up to handle this DIY headboard...

The full makeover would run us around $2,000. But the main flaw in my plan is that this beautiful duvet by Ralph Lauren in the Antigua Floral pattern seems to be out of stock everywhere I look! I'll keep this one on the back-burner and see if anything develops. There are a couple alternatives at Pottery barn like this one and that one. Maybe in the meantime, we'll find ourselves a larger bedroom! :)
